D-Day Itinerary

We'll be visiting the D-Day beaches in late June. Leaving Paris with a car - 3 kids; 2 adults - and staying in Arromanches. We'll have the full day we're leaving Paris and 1/2 of the next day.

I like Rick's suggested tour - beginning at Arromanches and ending near Pointe du Hoc. But would it be feasible to stop at the Caen Museum and do the tour in reverse (since we're staying in Arromanches) or would we be missing something? Any add'l tips?

We'd also like to visit Bayeux Tapestries but plan to do on Day 2 when we won't feel quite as rushed.

Thanks!

I've visited the D-Day beaches 3 times, but the last time was over 10 years ago. I see no issue with starting at the Caen Museum first. In fact, I think it would be easier since it is just off the highway on the drive from Paris to Arromanches. It is very well done.

Other sites that are close include:

Rick's suggested tour should take the better part of your day, but with the extended sunlight in June you could consider traveling up to Utah beach. I enjoyed visiting St. Mere Englise (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sainte-Mère-Église) and then driving out to the beaches. They are very isolated and different than Omaha and Gold Beaches.

I enjoyed reading about the events prior to visiting and would recommend:

Best of Luck,
