Four of us are loolking for excursions from Cherbourg to the D-Day areas in mid-May. Any good ideas? jbrown2618
Good ideas for what? You will need to rent a car. It is very doable from Cherbourg. You will be starting from the east end where Roosevelt landed.
Jerome, What kind of "excursions" did you have in mind? Are you referring to an organized day tour of the D-Day sites? What sites are you specifically interested in? Some additional information would be helpful....
My family of 6 used D-Day Battle Tours a few years ago. We took the train to Carentan, and Ellwood picked us up in his van. We only had time for 1 day, but he did a fantastic job, and showed us as much as he could in one day. We went to quite a few places including Omaha and Utah Beaches, St. Mere Eglise, and the American Cemetary. Well worth the price. He is very knowledgable.
My husband and I spent 5 nights in Bayeaux and did two tours with Battlebus tours. They are great! We did the two day American Experience tour and the Band of Brothers tour. We had a car but preferred to go on a tour with Battlebus tours. The weather was nice with just a little rain in May.
It is my understand that the Battlebus tours folded last year.
