how long is drive from paris to Omaha Beach area? could we plan to leave very early in a.m. and do justice to see this area during day and return to Paris hotel late eve? also any ideas about cheap 1 day car rentals?/Mahalo!

hi, its a little more than 2 hour by train to Bayeux in the normandy area. So, figuring out "by train" thats a 4 hours out a day. in my opinion (imo) if you cant make it at least a full day, then i would skip it. I took a private tour of the Normandy area and the tour guide picked me up at a Bayeux hotel at 0800 and we returned around 1800. He knows the areaa too (no GPS). All we covered was the US sector, no stops in any of the museums that were there and we still didnt see everything thats there! happy trails.

I would not recommend it as a one day trip unless it is important to say, "I have been there." You could do it but "do it justice?" - NO. The beach area is massive - over 50 miles from one end to the other. And that doesn't include important areas behind the beaches.

Thanks for your input...I realize that I need to find at least 1 extra day in our travels so that we can visit this area without rushing.
