I'm looking for reasonably priced bike tours in france, all I find are highend trips, any tips would be helpful
If the high-end tours are too much, consider self-guided or a la carte. Many tours and also many bike-rental shops will offer a menu of services, such as: Bike and helmet rental. Itinerary planning. Hotel and/or meal reservations. Porting of your bags from hotel to hotel. Even a guide. Chose all of the above and you have a guided tour. Choose only what you want and you have something less expensive. The main thing you don't have is the company of others. If you don't want to travel alone then you can recruit friends or bike buddies to go with you. I can recommend this based on personal experience.
A lot of compannies do high-end tours as that is what a lot of people want out of a vacation i nFrance---great food, wine, luxury lodging. One company that was started as an alternative to that is VBT (Vermont Bicycling Tours). Their proces are moderate. You could also look at a new company called Tripsite. they offer self-guided 6-day trips in France starting at 585 euros.
I know of a good company out of Paris, not to violate any board rules I'll send you the link in a private message.
We have booked several self-guided trips with Bike Tours Direct, a U.S. based firm that represents many European companies. The firm's search engine is quite good.
We did a terrific, moderately priced bicycling tour in Ireland a few years ago, and I see that the company we used has several itineraries in France. Check out Cycling Safaris dot com.
