How long does it take to get through customs/immigration at the munich airport arriving from London, England? or US?
I flew in from Stansted last week, the queue at immigration was about 5 mins. Total time from 'plane to the S-Bahn station was about 15 mins, via immigration and the blue channel (most of which was walking from A-B.)
I'd add in time if you are checking a bag and it'll probably take longer if you arrive on a big, transatlantic plane (unless you're first off.) Also if you have anything to declare at customs.
Thank you for the information, I am going to Oberammergau, and just trying to figure out times/trains and such. Linda.
I went though customs and immigration at Munich airport a few weeks ago flying in from Heathrow. I was shocked at how fast the whole process was. Of course if the airport is really mobbed....such was not the case with me....things might be different.
I have never really paid much attention. It takes what is takes. Immigration only takes a few minutes. Waiting in line is what takes time, but I doubt that it has been more than about ten minutes. If you check luggage, that can take more time. Last year, we got to baggage claim, I used the ATM, then left, looking back, and saw people from my plane still waiting for their bags.
The S-Bahn from the Hauptbahnhof takes about 40 minutes. Whichever train leaves the airport next will get to the Hbf next. Trains leave just about hourly from the Starnbergerbahnhof (tracks 27-36). They are all regional trains, no reservation required. If you get a Bayern-Ticket from the automat at the airport, you just go to the train in the Hbf and get on. No need to get a ticket.
