Hello again,I was hoping to find out if anyone knows if I can get to the town where a particular crystal factory is. I have a old book that lists different factories of most anything German. I purchased it when I lived there in the US Army back in the 70's. The name and address is: Weinfurtner Bleikristal D-8498 Arnbuck/Bayer. Wald, West Germany (which of course is just Germany now). We will be staying in Nurnberg. Any help on how to get there by train would be greatly appreciated. Also any suggestions on othere crystal factories by train in Germany would be great. I remember they sell seconds for a very inexpensive price. Thank you for any information in advance, I appreciate it very much. Lee
There is the WMF factory outlet in Geislingen.(between Stuttgart and Ulm). They have a website in English (www.wmf.com). I don't know what the prices are like now but they used to be a real bargain. There are instructions on the website on how to get from the bahnhof to the outlet.
Well, Lee, first of all, the name of the town is Arnbruck, not Arnbuck. If you google it, you'll find some info on it. Here is it's website: http://cms.arnbruck.de/ Try their webcam (remember the time difference.)
Once you plug in the correct name, Deutsche Bahn should show you the bus or train connections.
Weinfurtner has a website "Das Glasdorf" (the glass village) but it seems to be only in German. http://www.weinfurtner.de/index.html. If you click on the various subjects on the right, you'll find photos that are interesting. Try Kristall-Kronleuchterfabrik. They show, among other things, drinking glasses, gift articles and garden objects (loved those!).
I've been switching back and forth with google and just found this English info:
http://www.qype.co.uk/place/28976-Weinfurtner-das-Glasdorf-Arnbruck ....they even have a link with DB (Deutsche Bahn) under Get Directions and give opening hours, what's on sale right now, etc.
Also, Bohemia is famous for its crystal and glass as you may know.
