I want to take the cruise from Konstance to Lindau. Get off there and spend an hour or two. Then cruise back to Konstance. Will be there first week in October.

Yes Nigel. My question is can it be done? I'm concerned that the number of cruises available that late in the year might not let me explore the towns and get back to my hotel.

Seems like a RT cruise from Konstanz to Lindau would take a long time for just an hour or two in Lindau. I'd think about spending the night in Lindau. Also, with a RT cruise, you see the same things twice. Consider returning by train (w/ ferry across from Friedrichshafen to Romanshorn.

As long as you can find a cruise to Lindau, you can get back easily by train/ship. The Bahn shows the Friedrichshafen-Romanshorn ferry running hourly on Oct 31 until 8:41 PM (20:41). A train runs down the Swiss side of the lake from Romanshorn to Kreutzlingen, then to Konstanz. Looks like twice hourly.
