Taking Rhine river cruise this November. Need to know how to get from the docks in Basel Switzerland to a train station so we can get a train to Paris. Cruising with Viking if that makes any difference.

Hello Barbara, The Viking cruise terminal is located at Hochbergerstrasse 160 Basel CH-4019. You need to catch the TGV from Basel SBB station approximately 4 kms away – the best would be by taxi. NOTE 1: Make sure you tell the taxi driver you want the Basel SBB station; maybe even write it out, there is more than one station in Basel. NOTE 2; Trains from France arrive at the French Railway station (SNCF), which is located directly beside the Swiss Railway station (SBB). Re your train tickets to Paris – you can book them from 90 days out, the further out you book them the cheaper they are, don't wait till the last moment or you'll be paying a lot more for them.

You don't have to take a taxi in Basel. There is public transportation from the cruise ship docks to the train station. Use the on the Basel site.
