Does anyone know of any short 1-2 day cruises out of Marseille? I know there are French/European companies offering such a thing, but can't find them. Please help.

You can go for a day trip (or about half a day actually, I think) from the Vieux Port which is the main central harbour and visit the Calanques by boat. Look up "Calanques" on google, it's a marine regional park, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Well worth a day out in my opinion.
Also from the same place you can go to the islands just of the coast of Marseille (including le Chateau d'If, which is where the story of the Count of Montecristo takes place, in part). It's not so much a cruise, as the trip is only about twenty minutes to get there.
Finally you can get a ferry to Corsica, again not exactly a cruise; it takes between 8 hours to overnight depending on where in Corsica you want to go.
