Cote d'Azur 4 nights ...What to do?

I will be in the Cote d'Azur with my husband and two other couples in early September. We are in our late 20's. We will have 4 nights there and we will be relying on public transport. Some of the group will want to go to the beaches every morning for a few hours for the sun. We all want to see some of Old Nice, Monaco and maybe some cute village. (and my husband turns 30 during our trip)

Any advice on what area to stay in and how to plan our days would be greatly apprecatied. We are considering Nice, Antibes and Villefranche-sur-Mar.

Day 1: Driving from Aix to hotel
Day 2:
Day 3:
Day 4:
Day 5: Flight departs Nice airport around noon

Thank you!

Hi Andrea - There's a nice sandy beach on Cap Ferrat called Plage de Passable. It's also a wonderful place to have a special dinner. You eat outside on the beach and watch the sunset and the scenery is spectacular. The beach and restaurant are mentioned in Rick's Provence book.

You might want to include a visit Eze le Village. I believe you can get there by public transportation, or you could stop there the day you drive to Nice from Aix.

We loved Grasse. 1 Euro bus ride each way. Great little mountain town and wonderful perfumes.

I agree with Grasse, nice little village, if you are into perfume, you can visit some of the perfume makers, and even make you one fragrance with the help of the "nose". Cannes is also easy to reach by public transport.

We also spent 4 days Cote d'Azur in october 2008. Loved it, and frankly it wasn't long enough. We stayed in a small quirky hotel near Place Massena and it was easy enough getting around by bus. We visited Villefranche, Menton, and the hilltop village of Vence. You
will want to just spend a day or two in Nice itself, so much to see and do. We will be returning and it will be for a longer period next time. Have a great stay there!
