We plan to spend three days in Barcelona then pick up a rental car and head north along the coast. How long would you recommend staying on the Costa Brava? We will be there in mid-October so this will not be a sit on the beach visit. Also, please suggest a good base town. We prefer staying in-town rather than out and love old world charm. Thanks for any suggestions.
Interesting article on Begur in the Travel section of this Sunday's Boston Globe. Lots to do in the Costa Brava. Girona is interesting for a day or so. We thought Cadaques made a great 2-3 day location: beautiful town, great food, and Dali's house of course. The Greek and Roman ruins at Empuries were interesting. And Peratallada was the picturesque score of the trip for us (it's a village - half a day was just right). Gala's house at Pubol was good for another half-day.
