cost of fuel

Trying to plan ahead and would like to know the cost of gasoline per litre in Germany?

roughly the equivalent of $ 7,40/gallon. Diesel will cost around $ 6,60/gallon. Bear in mind most German cars are much more fuel efficient than American ones (and a tad smaller). REnt a diesel if possible: it is much more fuel efficient.

Thanks for help, but think that Lee's response above and the website he linked to do indicate a bit lower price and per litre - which of course we are familiar with here in Canada. Yes, agreed that German cars are more fuel economic. It will be standard, which will also help. Thanks again!

Patricia, After TransLink adds in the new transit fees they're considering, the prices in Vancouver may soon be the same as those shown in the web link that Lee provided. Cheers!

Surveying the local stations this morning on my way to work, I saw 1.34/L for diesel and 1.47 for E10 (that's the one with the ethanol added). By my math at the current exchange rates for Candian dollars, that translates to 7.10 and 7.80 per gallon. The price of crude oil has dropped recently, so I would expect that if you travel about a month or two from now, you may see cheaper prices at the pump.

Some further clarification on the "fuzzy math"..... First of all, to determine which measure to use for the volume conversion: > U.S. Gallons - 3.785 Liters > Imperial Gallons - 4.546 Liters (since the OP was Canadian, and that's what we used prior to Metric conversion) The currency exchange changes frequently, but $1.40 is an accurate figure to use at the moment. €1.536 = Cdn$2.167 On that basis: 1 U.S. Gallon = Cdn$8.20 1 Imperial Gallon - Cdn$9.85 Hopefully, my trusty HP Calculator provided the correct numbers. Cheers!

I've just completed 10 days driving. I found the following prices for diesel (normal diesel) as I filled up. Prices paid were in Euro per litre. I did some digging - except for Luxembourg where prices are nationally set, prices were higher at many places. Belgium €1.32 Netherlands €1.33 Germany €1.34 to €1.47 by region - highest in Rhineland/Pfalz/Saarland Luxembourg €1.12
France €1.36 at a Carrafour. YMMV

I was surprised at the cost for filling up our little rental when we were there last month. We had a tiny Ford (Fiesta?), it must've had a tiny tank. We filled it up when we had a quarter of a tank left, and it cost 56 euro. I was budgeting twice that.

We filled our little toyoto last fall and it was nearly $90 US. Expect $7- 8 per gallon as an average. This will work for budgetting purposes. As mentioned earlier, you can also expect 40 - 50 + MPG.
