Cordoba, Malaga, Granada Spain

Booked 3 nights in San Seb wondering if I need 4 to make day trips? Then heading towards Pamplona and or Zaragoza possibly 2 nights each? Then heading towards Cordoba not sure how many nights I need and where if day trips are fine I have from June 1 ( that's spending 3 nights in San Seb) till June 14 flying out from Malaga to Ibiza. I'm looking into Granada, Nerja, and Ronda. I know I need 3 nights in Granada but wondering about the other cities they look Amazing! Not sure if I need nights there? Would Love any input!!! Help!!!! Thanks :))

One night in Cordoba should be enough. If you can spend a night in Ronda I think you should. Much different at night.

You could drop by Pamplona on the way to Zaragoza. It's a nice town and worth a look but doesn't warrant a night. Could also be done as a day trip - only about 1 hour from San Seb. Check out the place, walk where the bulls run and have a nice meal, that was about it for us. A nice place for day trip is Saint Jean-de-Luz, just into France and also very close. Much smaller and more peaceful than San Sebastian (a much larger city than we expected). How are you travelling from Zaragoza to Cordoba? Now that's a LONG distance. Granada for 3 nights is an excellent choice. We stopped in Ronda for a short visit, walked around town, had lunch, went to the bullring/museo - that was enough for US. IMHO if I were flying out of Malaga - Gibraltar would definely be on my list for a visit. Enjoy your trip.

Lisa - You can see Ronda on a daytrip from Cordoba. It is less than 2 hours each way.

I do not know if I would do Ronda as a day trip if you'll be moving on to Granada and then Malaga anyways? Might just as well stop there on the way from Granada to Malaga. Do not see the purpose of a day trip there?

Thanks for all the input! Bob I was planning on traveling by train throughout Spain. From what I can tell looks like all stops I'm planning are accessible but have never traveled this route? Just going by R.S. and Tripadvisor reviews :/ I need all the help I can get! Ronda just looks so pretty from the pictures. Think I might lie a little more time there, however I'm traveling for 4 months so my luggage is not the best to drag around I lie being someplace for two nights but there is so much o see! I didn't even mention Maracco would like to check that out too! Let me know what you think , I basically have (after my 3 night in San Seb maybe 4haha) June 1st till June 14th leaving out of Malaga for Ibiza then off to Dublin if you have any input for that as well! :) Thank you for your time & input! Cheers

Too bad that you do not have a car, the seaside Roman ruins & museum at Bolonia (north of Tarifa) are amazing.

Last June we went to South Spain. Granada was a must for us because of the Alhambra. We stayed two nites there. Then we drove to Cordoba, and spent two nites. But Cordoba, in my opinion was only worth one nite; or enough time to see the Mesquiza (awesome). The we drove to Seville for four nites. Three would have been good also. We loved Seville. And we used it as a base to drive to Juarez to see the fantastic horse show one day; (TIENDA REAL ESCUELA), and also drove to the hill town of Arcos. Then we drove to Teriffa so we could stay two nites and see Gibralter. The cab tour of the Rock was great, and so was the little English town below. Our last vacation spot was Ronda. We loved Ronda, and spent three nites there. It was the hi-lite of our trip . We had the rental car, so we used it as a base for exploring the neighboring hill town of Grazalema, and we drove to the Pileta Caves (facinating!) Ronda should not be missed; it is so neat at nite when all of the touristas leave. Our trip was a reprisal of the trip that some very good friends took. They told us the places to see, and what to avoid. And everywhere we went was wonderful. We flew out of Malaga

Wow Steve sounds Amazing! It's so hard deciding but glad to hear your opinion on Ronda from the pics on the Internet it looks so beautiful and think I'm going to try to book at least two nights there. I wish I had a car but being by myself not sure about that haha well I will difently consider your other suggestions as well but happy about Ronda! Would like to make it Gibraltar if it can work without a car.... Also researching Morocco

Agree with others who say Cordoba doesn't need any more than one day. Actually, Cordoba makes an ideal 1/2 day stop on the fast train between Madrid and Seville and I think that's enough. 3 nights? Seems way too much to me. Ronda is pretty enough, but I can't imagine staying more than one night. We liked Ronda but we loved Arcos - thought it was far and away better than Ronda. YMMV. Agree that a car is really needed for the white hill towns. Traveling for 4 months? You do know about the Schengen rules, right?

Do you normally book ahead or go at your own pace? The responses here are one reason I tend to find a room as I go. On June 1st, San Sebastian may be in the middle of heavy rain storms and three nights may seem like too much - or the weather may be ideal and you will have to drag yourself away. The daytrip most people take from San Sebastian is up to France, St Jean de Luz. I think Pamplona is worth a look around and a night (are you driving?). Zaragosa is worth about the same. In the area are Tudela, Olite (Palacio de los Reyes de Navarra de Olite, bodegas, Gothic town), and/or Tafalla/Ujue (medieval). As you head south toward Cordoba, a stop in Toledo (maybe two nights just to slow down after a couple of one nighters) would be ideal. If you aren't going to Seville, I don't see going past it to Jerez or Arcos. If you do go that way, I'd suggest continuing to Cadiz. I think some of these may be nice stops for your itinerary: Estepona - Old quarter, Square, Castle ruin Cesares - Inland White Town, Maze of Narrow Streets clinging to mountain Puerto Banus - Major sailing destination/marina Gibraltar (half day)
Castello de la Frontera - Old walled city and Moorish Castle You are going more South-East, into Costa del Sol, than we are; I didn't include a lot of that area in my research.
