If I fly into Paris connecting to Lisbon, how does customs work? Will I need to gather my checked luggage and proceed to customs and then recheck my bags and go to my gate or do I simply walk to my gate. It appears on the airport map that my gates are right next to each other -- flying into Terminal 2 Gate F and leaving Terminal 2 Gate D. Thanks for any help.

It depends on if you are flying on the same carrier for all your flights. In June we flew from MRS to CGD then CDG to Dulles all on Air France. Our check in luggage was routed straight through to Dulles and we didn't have to recheck anything. If you are using different carriers then you'll have to retreive the luggage and recheck it with the new carrier.
Although it might look like you'll simply walk from gate to gate this may not be the case. I thought the same thing since we landed at 2D and left from 2E. We landed out on the tarmac and were shuttled to Terminal 2. We literally walked in one door and out another for the shuttle ride to the area of Terminal 2 that contained our gate. We then had to go through security again. We didn't have to do anything with customs (they'll ask you at the gate) but we did have to get shuttled out to the tarmac again to board the plane. Allow at least 2 hrs to connect. It took every second of that for ours.
