Hello, I've never had a connecting flight in a different country in Europe, so I'm not sure what to expect. On the way home I will be flying out of Berlin and connecting in Amsterdam. I will then head back to the U.S. from Amsterdam. The schedule only has a ~55 minute layover between landing in Amsterdam and the connecting flight departing. When I land in Amsterdam will I have to go through security/passport check again or will I be able to go straight to my connecting flight? Thanks
There is no passport check in Berlin since it's a "domestic" flight. 55 minutes should be just enough time to make your connecting flight. Schipol is easy to navigate, everything is housed under one enormous building with one long corridor connecting the various "piers" to the gates. You will have to pass an immigration checkpoint, there is usually an express lane available for those with tight connections. There will be a monitor above this lane listing which flights qualify. Security for transatlantic flights is done at the gate instead of a centralized area. As long as you make it to the gate before the doors close on the plane you're good.
Thanks for the info!
