Would you be able to recommend comfortable and reasonably priced hotel in Geneva? Thanks,
Olga
Olga, it seems that a majority of posters dont particularly like Geneva, this may account for the slow response. I'm neutral, I found it interesting and lovely, however, Hotels were pricey! We've used Hotel Warwick, initially for the convenience factor. When you are coming from Montreaux by train and you're tired, as soon as you leave train station it is almost the first Hotel you see. The rooms were up to American standards, large and modern. This is said after staying in many " cozy" less frills Hotels in Switz. And France. We like to travel in mid-July and they offered a discount, worked nicely that year. This year it didn't fit our budget and are staying several blocks away a Hotel Suisse, never stayed there but am not expecting a lot. Go to the top of this page and find the "search" box, eliminate it and type in "Geneva Hotels", this will bring up past posts by those who have stayed in Geneva. Another option is to Bing this "Tripadvisor Geneva Forum", this seems to be another reliable source of info.
We stayed in Geneva one night a couple of years ago, and while I didn't like the city, I had no problem with our hotel, Hotel Les Arcades (http://www.hotel-arcades.ch/pages/homepage.php). It was definitely reasonably priced for Geneva, very comfortable and clean, and right across the street from the train station.
The area right around Geneva's train station is not the best neighborhood, just a few blocks away is the 'red light' district. Any of the hotels in the central old town area are good. The Mandarin Oriental and the Kempinski are very comfortable, right on the water, and when booked early are reasonable for Geneva.
