Hi, I have a 10 day trip to europe in early Deember. Unless I can change my award flight I will need to get back to Paris from Cologne. Would you recommend flying or taking the train? It seems like train travel can be anywhere between 3:15 to 5+ hrs. Usually the safe route seems to be train over air. Thanks
Rich
Richard, The best method for travel from Cologne to Paris is absolutely by train. If you choose one of the direct Thalys trains from Köln Hbf to Gare du Nord (reservations compulsory), the travel time is only ~3H:15M. With no changes, that should be an easy trip. I haven't checked flight options but there's no way a flight will be quicker, when all is considered (travel to and from airports, check-in, security, waiting for luggage carousels, etc.). Happy travels!
Book from Cologne to Paris at www.thalys.com. There are very cheap fares available if you book ninety days in advance.
