We have a window to travel at the end of April to visit the cathedrals in Köln and Aachen. Would anyone have recommendations on budget but nice accomodations in the central/allstadt areas of both cities? Other things not to miss on a short trip? We will have a car.

We have stayed here in the Coellner Hof Hotel twice and have found it to be one of the loveliest hotels around with just about the best breakfast buffet you could ask for. Last year we paid 75 € for a double, but you will have to check what the rates are this year. It is only a 10 min. walk from the train station and the cathedral.
