See, Dom, Roman museum, Rathaus, other displays of ruins in the immediate area.
Stay, can't say - my wife has relatives in the area. I always love pensions in Germany. The quality is consistently high and the price is good.
Eat, I never remember names. Not far from the Dom is a fountain with a bunch of elves (looks like related to the fairy tale about the cobler) - there are at least two restaurants there that are both very good. First one on the left (looking at the fountain with restaurants behind) is my first choice. The one immediately to it's right is my second choice. I think there is at least one other restaurant to the right of those.
Try the Koelsch beer. It's the local brew. To be honest, it's like Pilsner (but I didn't want to offend the locals by saying it out loud).
Also there are two statues that look vaguely like Laurel and Hardy in the area, can't remember the names of the characters but they go back to medieval times and many jokes (in Koelsch, the local language) are told about the two friends.
I only remember one: the first knocks on the door of the other. The second answers completely naked except for his finest hat. The first asks why he's naked? The second says, "I wasn't expecting visitors." The first then asks, "Why do you have your hat on?" To which the second replies, "Well maybe."
I guess it loses something in the translation, but it's fascinating to me to know what people laughed about 600 years ago.
