colmar VRBO

Hello - since I've gotten so much valuable help with our travels from everyone, thought I'd give this topic a try. We're looking at renting an apartment for a week in Colmar from the website VRBO. Just wondering if anyone here has used them and would like your good/bad comments about your experience.

Just a little bit hesitant about using them.

Thanks for your help.

I've used VRBO many times. Be sure to read the fine print ( do they charge a cleaning fee, etc.) and reviews. I only had one bad experience out of at least a dozen rentals. Homeaway.com is another site to check out where you rent directly from the owners.

We have used VRBO here in the states and have been pleased with the results. We used HomeAway to rent a home last spring in France.

As suggested, read the contract if there is one. There was a contract for the home in France but it was in French. I had several "conversations" via email with the owner and felt comfortable renting the house.

Often, there are reviews shown as part of the information about the rental. Were there any shown with the listing?

Otherwise, we stayed in a nice Mercure that overlooked a park when we were in Colmar.

Good luck!

And yet another site, which I’ve used a lot this year in my domestic and international travels, is airbnb.com. You also rent directly from owners. Payment is via credit card at time of booking, but the owner doesn’t get paid until 24 hours after check-in…a protection for you. Reviews are available for both owner and his property, as well as for you (the renter). Serves as protection on both sides. It’s an awesome site…I just used it again for the umpteenth time this year for another trip to Asia in a few weeks. I haven't searched on Colmar, but I would be shocked if they didn't have several properties for rent there. Check it out.
