We'll be traveling to France next May/June and will be ending our trip in the Alsace and Burgundy region. We'll be driving from Chinon to Beaune (area) where we'll be spend two or three nights, and then up to the Alsace spending either 2 or 3 nights. We'll drop the car in Colmar and take the train from their to Paris where we spend the night in Paris or near the airport before heading home. I need some advice, should we spend the two or three nights in Colmar or Equisheim? And... should we spend two night in the Beaune region and three nights in the Alsace region or vice versa? Thank you all for help and advice.
I would stay in Colmar as it is a bigger town with a lot to see and do. 2 nights in Burgundy & 3 nights in Colmar or vice-versa? IMO neither is enough time to do either area justice. I suggest that you decide which area speaks to you the most and choose accordingly. Personally, I love both areas. Another possibility is to choose one or the other and spend the full five nights there. That would give you the chance to thoroughly explore and experience the region. You can visit the other area when you return - always assume you will return.

Sue, I'd also suggest staying in Colmar as you'll have more to do there, especially in the evenings. Be sure to visit the wonderful Unterlinden Museum. Colmar is a smaller town but I found that it has a nice character with beautiful canals. Happy travels!
Colman. Eguisheim is very small. You can see the whole city in an hour.
Thank you for the advice everyone. One more question... Do you think it would be wise to stay in Colmar for the entire 5 nights heading south from there to the Beaune area to explore the wine region? It seems like a lot of driving.
Stay in Colmar, but no longer than 3 days. Use it as a base for exploring other small villages.
Thank you everyone, I appreciate your advice. I've booked a place in Colmar for 3 nights.
