Clotilde's Edible Adventures in Paris

From the reviews I've read, this sounds like "the book" to get for our upcoming trip to Paris in three weeks time. One quick question though for those who have used it: Are the restaurants all top end? Expensive? Does Clotilde feature any moderate priced bistros and restaurants that are authentic and "affordable", and I appreciate that what is affordable to some is expensive to others. I guess what I am asking is, is this a "Michelin Food Guide" of exceptional restuarants with exceptional prices to match. There is nothing wrong with it if it is ... but my wife and I are both seniors on a fixed budget and while we enjoy eating well prepared meals, we have to space out our "splurges" if that is the type of restuarants she recommends. Thanks a bunch.

From what I remember, this is not just a restaurant guide, it also features bakeries and other food shops, etc. and not merely expensive venues. The book itself is small enough to take along and pretty. Check to see if your library has it or you could order a used copy from Amazon.

Gordon, you don't mention if you follow her blog...I'll give you the website address at the end of my post. AND if you haven't already, to get a sneak peak into the book, go to Amazon.com and search for her book - from there, you can peak into the book. I think you'll like what you see. It's already on my Wish List ;-) My limited opinion of her style is that it's not frou-frou and expensive; she's looking for simple and affordable places to eat and shop. Here's the website: http://chocolateandzucchini.com/

I have this book and it includes many affordable restaurants listed by arrondisement. She also includes recommendations for various food shops (bakeries, chocolate shops, cheese shops, etc.). I think it is a useful book if you consider yourself a bit of a a "foodie". I would also recommend the food blog of David Lebovitz for restaurant and shop suggestions www.davidlebovitz.com

Thanks a bunch, folks. I've ordered the book and it should arrive in a few days time. By pure coincidence I also noted David Leibovitz's book when I was browsing and ordered it too! What the heck, you only live once right! We're off to Paris in 16 days time. I'll let you know how Clotilde's recommendations pan out. Thanks again! A friend. Gord
