clothing for Sevilla in June-July

My daughter and I will be spending 4 weeks in Spain this summer. 2 weeks will be in Sevilla and the other 2 weeks we will be traveling (Madrid, Toledo, Segovia, and other places still to be determined).

My question is, what kind of clothing should I bring? I don't generally wear skirts/dresses, but I am from Maine and I know I will be really hot and uncomfortable in long pants. Can I get away with capris? I'm thinking of bringing several capris, 2 pair of long pants and one sundress. Are there places where capris would not be acceptable?

Also what about shoes? I was thinking of bringing sandals and sneakers. If I can find a nice looking pair of shoes that are breathable and good for walking I would consider those instead of sneakers.

Thanks,
Cathy

I just returned from Southern Spain Sevilla, Granada, and Ronda and I lived in jeans, nice walking shoes, a light weight jacket, and nice tops. It will be hot when you are there and being from Maine you will notice the intensity of the sun. I saw lots of people in capris and sandals when it was hot but did not see anyone in shorts, except some teenage boy. I think you have a good plan. Most women don't wear sneakers so a nice sandal that you can walk in. I took some good clothes with me but never used them, but I didn't go to Madrid and stayed away from expensive restaurants and enjoyed the outdoor cafes more. I toured with my daughter too...have a wonderful time. We went to Ronda which was absolutely beautiful!
