Our family is traveling to Paris in July. What's appropriate to wear? Last summer in Spain we found that we were most comfortable a little dressed up. Is Paris the same? Don't want to look like total travel nerds.
It can be hot in July. I would wear what you did in Spain as you were most comfortable that way. Sounds like no way would you look like total nerds, what no Cabana shirts, sandals with black socks for you?
Gail, do the guys need to wear pants that cover their knees and do the girls need to cover our shoulders in churches?
Sorry, can't help you with that. My son always wears khaki pants on vacation, no shorts. Just his preference when traveling to a city. can't tell you either about girls covering shoulders in Paris, it is almost mandatory in Italy. My daughter kept a large scarf, lightweight and covered her shoulders out of respect, that was my requirement simply I won't allow her to church here with bare shoulders. Maybe others can give you more info. Good luck.
Allison, When we were in Paris in late June 09, our girls(18,14) basically dressed like they did at home. They did were tops that covered their shoulders when we visited Notre Dame. I remember it being a little on the warm side.
I agree with Gail, wear what you wore in Spain. Paris can get very hot in July, and my son always wears stylish shorts, which is not out of place. There is no dress code and you will see everything from exquisitely fashionable women on down to the not well dressed. From what I've seen, covering your shoulders in church is not required like it is in Italy (haven't been to Spain).
Thanks Susan. My eleven year-old son thanks you for the shorts endorsement. The thought of having to wear khakis the entire week would have put him over the edge.
LOL. My son was young adult when we first went to Eurpoe so that is why he chose khakis. If he was eleven he would have not gone if he had to wear khakis. Trip with him to Disneyworld at that age, I wasn't paying attention too much and when we got home and viewed pictures of the 7 days, there he was every day in the same "clamdiggers".
