classical concerts at St Chapelle

We are considering attending a concert at St Chapelle when we are in Paris in May. Has anyone attended one there and is it necessary to purchase tics in advance? classictic.com offers tics at several churches including one at SC. We attended a Vivaldi Concert at Madeleine Church and bought tics at the door and it did not seem to matter whether we bought the higher priced tics as there was plenty of seating and accoustics good.

Hi Susan, I attended a Vivaldi concert at Ste Chapelle three years ago and it was wonderful. We bought tickets the same day or the day before at the church. I plan to attend another concert there when we are in Paris in August/Sept. Enjoy!

A few years ago we bought tickets through classictic.com for a concert at La Madeleine, only to find when we went to the church that the concert locale had been changed and we had not been notified. Then followed a great contretemps with classictic to get our money refunded, which eventually it was after much time & trouble, but the whole thing was a royal pain.

I was in Paris in September and bought tickets for a concert at St. Chapelle based on very strong recommendations on this site. It was fantastic. I was a little nervous about it because it was kind of expensive, but it was worth it. We bought the tickets the day before from the box office right outside the door. I will warn you there were renovations going on in September and part of the windows were covered with white cloth. But it did not in my mind take away from the experience.

Ditto Carroll's experience - we, too, attended at concert at St. Chapelle in September (Vivaldi's Four Seasons). I was somewhat hesitant because of the price, but we both enjoyed it immensely...my wife continually talks about how she'd like to go again on another trip. (We bought our tickets around 4 in the afternoon same day - seating was not assigned, sat right up front).

Again, thank you for you comments. Exactly how much is the "steep" price of tics? We paid 20 euros each for concert at Madeleine. Also I am curious about concerts at the Cluny and St Germaine-des-pres. I think the concert at the Cluny is free on a certain afternoon.

Sainte Chapelle concerts usually run 25-35 euros, depending on who's performing.

The Cluny concerts are not exactly free, but they're on Friday and Saturday, and are included with the museum entry price.

Saint Germain is around 15 euros, maybe a bit less.

I don't remember the ticket cost for Ste Chapelle but remember that they weren't cheap. Ed's numbers look right to me. Suggest getting there a bit early to choose your seat. We sat in the back and would have prefered to be closer to the front. The sound is the same but I like to watch the musicians.

FYI: St. Chapelle was still being renovated when I was there a month ago. The whole altar was covered up.

We also were at a Four Seasons concert, Roy. I wonder if we were at the same one? We were there on a Wednesday, I think, the third week of September.

My recollection is that the tickets came to around $90 for two of us.

Carroll - I went back and looked at our itinerary. We were also at St Chapelle on a Wed. night, the 17th (7 PM performance - there was also an 8:30 performance). Small world!

Roy, We were at the 7:00 concert too. Yes, a small world indeed. We just loved it.

I bought tickets in advance on Classictic and when seeing the line of people waiting to get tickets as I strolled right on in, I was glad I had mine in hand.
There is some renovation going on as I understand it, and there will be some scaffolding, etc. covering some of the stained glass.
