We are visiting Granada in May. Is it prudent to secure Bono Turistico city passes, which includes the Alhambra, prior to arrival in the City.
You should certainly purchase your Alhambra tickets ahead to avoid disappointment. Whether you want to see or have the time for all included in any Bono, I cannot tell. Bear in mind, as you would with simple purchase for the Alhambra, you need to be specific about the date and session for the Alhambra and time you wish for the Nasrid area when purchasing. If I were using one, I probably would be purchasing beforehand for peace of mind (and perhaps less time lost in the process). http://granadainfo.com/alhambra/bono.htm
Neil is correct. The problem isn't getting the Bono Turistico; it's getting an Alhambra reservation. You do this when you buy the Bono Turistico; if you wait until you get to Granada, times may be gone. So, I'd do it before. Note that while your Alhambra time is reserved, you can go to any of the other attractions at any time. Also note that, when I went in 2006, it was hard to make the Bono Turistico pay off (I don't know what's covered now). Basically, if I hadn't gone to the science museum, it would not have been financially worthwhile for everything else I intended to see.
I was just looking at the Bono Turistico city passes and on the 5 day one for 32
euros a day the hop on hop off tour is included. Regular Alhambra entrance is just 12 euros though but the Bono does have better Alhambra times.
Thanks for the good advice. John & Mary
