City next to Berlin

We're flying in and out of Berlin for our Europe trip. For the last leg of our trip, we're spending 2 nights in Berlin for business travel then we have 2 more extra nights before we fly out. We spent a few nights in Berlin last year, and we would like to a neighboring town close by. As for our interests, we're into history and culture, but not very much into visiting museums. If possible, we'd like to spend these two nights in a small town. We don't want to stay too far from Berlin though since we have to go back there to catch our flight.

Potsdam would be the obvious choice for me...

i would also say Potsdam. You could visit the famous Sanssouci, and walk thru the grounds to see the beautiful Chinese teahouse. Also interesting is the Schloss Cecilienburg, which is very close by. It is a big Tudor-style house where the Potsdam Conference was held in 1945. It's full of historical documents, but not too "museum-y" and it doesn't take long to tour. There is a tie to the film industry in Potsdam as well. Also, just a few minutes from Potsdam is a little town called Caputh. It is very picturesque, lies right along a lake, and is a quiet, peaceful place. There are sailboats, lots of bikes, and in season often some kind of musical performance or art to be found. Albert Einstein's small summer home is there. It would be a lovely, relaxing place to spend a final vacation day before heading back home. I stayed at the Hotel Muellerhof there, and will do so again.
