Cinque Terra in winter

We were planning to visit the Cinq T in Decembe. Ive been told it's a silly plan. Has anyone else visted then? And would you recommend it at that time of year. (we can't go any other time)

I personally haven't been there in winter but I have two friends who spent every Christmas there for about four years. They loved it because it was not crowded. The weather must be tolerable because I know they hiked not only the main trails but some of the branches. The only time I have been there was in October and I loved it but it was EXTREMELY packed with tourists from all over.

I've been in October and enjoyed it. The weather was warm but not hot and it wasn't crowded at all.

There won't be a lot going on and rain shuts down the hiking trails. If you have decent weather, though, CT will be a nice relaxing stop.

Thanks Sherry and Brad, you have helped me decide that going will be worth it.

Kathryn, My family went 2 years ago in winter and it was a bit cold, but lovely. Not everything was open, but we ate great meals, wonderful gelato, walked around, put our toes in the water. We stayed in an apt in Monterosso, cooked homemade pasta purchased around the corner. Our kids had a great time. I would like to go in summer, but it was when we were there, so.....

My wife and I have been to Cinque Terra in late November 3 times and the weather has been wonderful. Not as crowded and the hotels are cheap. I can't think of the last place we stayed but its a 10 walk up the mountain from the station. Great view of the town and sea. Good luck.
