any recommendations for a good church service in munich? curious about what church would be the most historic, or has a beautiful interior, atmosphere, good music...

The oldest is the Alte Peter Kirche, although this (along with the larger, Frauenkirche) was largely rebuilt from rubble after WWII. What you see today is a reconstruction in several different styles, as well as some post-war cost cutting. The Theatinkirche seems to have miraculously escaped serious damage, even though the Rezidenz across the street wasn't nearly so lucky. I would describe the interior as "Baroque Explosion."
