My family is considering a Christmas skiing holiday in Switzerland next year. We are all accomplished skiers, and so a location with some substantially challenging runs a must. I am also curious about typical snow-availability at Christmas time. Also, we would like to stay in a location that will allow for a stellar Christmas away from home. Any suggestions?
I would suggest San Moritz. There is a low cost hotel at the RR station. It is a popular ski center and crowded. Dont remember the name.
Most of the Alpine resorts offer expert slopes. Throughout the Alps, the resorts usually open in early to mid December, and are in full swing by Christmas.
Any reason why you want Switzerland in particular? I just ask, because although the skiing here is excellent, the cost is out of proportion to other comparable areas. In Switzerland, some of the skiing meccas are Zermat, San Moritz, Interlaken, Davos, and Flims. Other world-class resort areas throughout the Alps include Chamonix/Mt Blanc, Cortina, Innsbruck, and Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
