My daughter and I will be in Sevilla on Christmas Eve and Christmas day. Will anything be open? Advice?
Two years ago we spent New Years in Sevilla. Everything closed early (around 5 pm) on New Years eve and everything was closed on New Years day. A few restaurants in the bigger, tourist hotels were open but it was very limited. Our tour guide has warned us on New Year's eve to put enough to get us through the next day. So we bought wine, bread, cheese, olives, meat, etc., and had a couple meals on the roof top garden of our hotel. The hotel provided breakfast. I would assume Christmas would be very similar.
We were in Seville Christmas and New Year 06/07, so things may have changed since. We were staying quite centrally in Santa Cruz and found that Christmas Eve and Christmas Days were virtually normal days as far as restaurants and bars were concerned. I don't know about the sites/tourist attractions. Christmas is less of a big deal in Spain than in some other countries. Most of the restaurants were also open on New Years eve, but had been booked out some time before - that was the only time we had to self cater in our apartment. Christmas Day is a Sunday this year, so don't expect supermarkets or some shops to be open - they generally close on Sundays.
