My family is planning a week in Salzburg this Christmas and are interested in a horse drawn sleigh ride and tobogganing. Has anyone ever done this and can you recommend the best place nearby to do this? We will have a car and don't mind driving an hour or so.
I bet both of these options are available outside of Salzburg - such as in towns in the Salzkammergut or the Berchtesgaden area. I'd also include Reit im Winkl (because I know they have a world-class luge track). For tobogganing (called Rodeln) you won't need a license or hire a guide. If you can borrow a Rodel (or Schlitten, same thing) then you are off. Maybe your lodging provider has access to those. Check at www.salzkammergut.at and see what some of the accommodations' winter program looks like.
For winter fun: Nothing like hopping onto a sled for a sleighride!
We are going also for Christmas and have booked a sleigh ride through Viator.Does anyone have suggestions for somewhere to have dinner on Christmas eve.
