We are planning a trip to the German Christmas markets. We are wondering if anyone has any advice on where to eat on Christmas Day in Munich or around Munich as we are thinking everything may be closed! Has anyone had a wonderful experience on Christmas day? If we stay at a B&B there won't be any dinner. Any ideas of what to do would be appreciated. Thanks, Marcia
We spent Christmas Eve and Day 2010 in Nuremberg and actually had no problems finding restaurants open. More was closed on Christmas Eve, but we went to Indian restaurants both nights. Your B&B could also gives you recommendations of what will be open. My 7 yr old actually had McDonald's for lunch on Christmas day.
Thanks Angela! It does make a lot of sense to go to an Indian restaurant. I was thinking maybe Chinese on Christmas Day, but Indian sounds good too. Any other great things to do in Munich on Christmas day?
Restaurants close on the 24th, but most will be open on the 25th and 26th and lots of Germans like to go out to eat on those days. Those are both official holidays in Germany, so all the stores will close around 1400 on the 24th and not re-open til the 27th. If you want to go to museums or other tourist attractions, check their websites for holiday hours. Some will be open, some will be closed. There should be lots of church services on all 3 days, with organ concerts, midnight masses, childrens programs, etc.
