Christmas in belgium

I am planning a trip to amsterdamn and belgium during late December. We are thinking about Ghent or Bruges for December 24, 25th and 26th. Will we find restaurants open on those days? Would it be better to spend those days in another place? Thanks for any advice.

I've spent Christmas in Belgium several times, although not in those cities. Some restaurants in those locations should remain open, but expect them to close late in the afternoon.
