Looking for "must-see/do" ideas for a family of 4 (2 older teens) in Strasbourg/Colmar area in mid-December. Esp. interested in theatre, music, etc. What about crossing over into Germany? Thank you.

You've got all the Xmas beauty, the Xmas markets etc. of Germany just across the river. Black Forrest, Baden Baden and Freiburg are gems during Xmas season!

Strasbourg has several world-renowned Christmas markets in various parts of the city. The city itself is magically decorated, and there are several shops specializing in regional Christmas arts and crafts items. There are a host of concerts both in the major Strasbourg cathedral and in others as well. As Christmas approaches, just Google both the city of Strasbourg tourism office and the cathedral and look for things pertaining to Noel. I spent Christmas 2006 in the Alsace-Lorraine region, and look forward to doing it again.
