Our family will be in Salzburg over Christmas this year. I am looking for suggestions for Christmas Eve dinner. I know there won't be a lot open and there are 7 of us so I'd like to get something booked as soon as I can.

Try the Goldene Ente restaurant. I don't know whether they are open for dinner on Christmas eve. I do know that we have been to Salzburg twice covering 5 nights. We were referred to the Goldene Ente by the desk at the Weisse Taube on the night of our arrival. While we generally sample different restaurants during our stays in most cities, in this case we found no reason to try elsewhere.

I am pretty sure Austria is the same as Germany, in that all restaurants close on the 24th, either the entire day or at 1400 at the latest. So, nothing will be open. The only places to have dinner will be in a hotel restaurant. Where are you staying? I think I would ask them what they recommend, and which hotels are offering dinner.
