We will be in Spain and Portugal for 3 weeks over Christmas and New Years. Are restaurants open on Christmas Day-our schedule is flexible-are we better off in a small town or a major city?

We were in Seville over Xmas/New Year last year and Xmas Day was almost a normal day. Most restaurants were open and doing a roaring trade - at lunchtime anyway. Some were fully booked but we had no problem finding one. NY eve most were closed and NY day less open than for Xmas day which we found a bit strange. I suspect you would find more open in the cities.
