Christmas destinations in Europe

Hi - I am thinking of going somewhere for Christmas. I live in London and looking to go for 4-5 days somewhere romantic. A place that will be magical for christmas. Any suggestions? I hear Germany is great as is Switzerland. If Which hotels would you recommend? I am looking to stay at a 3 to 4 star hotel.

I think Paris is magical for Christmas. I also think London is magical for Christmas, but would take Paris over London, having experienced both. Those are big cities, though.... others will likely have awesome ideas for smaller, cozier places. If I were plumping for Paris I would say - lights galore! Magical market along the Champs Elysees! Gorgeous shop displays. Delightful quirky neighborhood decorations. Kiddies and families everywhere. Ice skating rinks! Mulled wine!

We were in Rothenburg over Christmas last year and doesn't get any better. With light snow falling it was magical. We also were in Strasbourg earlier. It was very nice but a larger city.

Definitely Germany, in my opinion. Although, Kira makes a good sell for Paris. I LOVE Paris, but haven't spent Christmas there... yet. Rothenburg is great ( we stayed in a great B&B. PM me if you want the name, I'll check my records and get back to you), as is Nurnberg, Salzburg (austria), or any tiny town along the Romantic Road. Bavaria is magical at Christmas.
Have Fun!
