Chocolate and Pastry tour in Paris

I've heard that there are chocolate and pastry tours available in Paris. I'll be there in October. Any recommendations?

Jane,

I took the Paris Walks chocolate walk in early June and it was great! Iris (who came up with the idea for the tour and also led ours) is very knowledgeable - and funny too. She told us the history of chocolate in France and we visited 4 chocolatiers (with samples!) Thanks to this tour, I have a new favorite chocolate shop in Paris - Michel Cluizel in the 1st Arr. (the one with the huge chocolate fountain in the window) - YUM! I learned many things, including to like dark chocolate and candied fruit (both are made differently in France.) You need to register ahead of time for this walk (easily done on their Website). Bon Appetit! (And let me know about any pastry tours - a great idea for my next trip.)

Hi Holly,
Thanks very much for your recommendation. I'll look up the Paris Walks website. I'll also post any new info I receive regarding pastry tours as well. I suppose I'd better diet a bit before my trip in October!!

I spent 10 days in Paris in early May (2009) and could not get over all the pastry stores all over the place all selling GREAT pastry. Now I am back in Seattle going thru "Pastry Withdrawal" You will not have any trouble finding lots of places selling pastries.

Thanks, Charlie. Since I'm a big fan of chocolate AND pastry, I know this trip to Paris will be lots of fun.

I also took the chocolate walk with Iris in June. Not to be missed. Nor is drinking a pot of hot chocolate at Angelina's with a pastry. Warning, you really need share one pot and one pastry between 2 people!!

Dear Chani,
I love your suggestions! It's great to know where to go on a trip ahead of time. We'll definitely be taking the tour and checking out Angelina's. Thank you!

Hi Jane,

Glad to help. I had read about Angelina's, then forgotten about it until I took the chocolate tour on my last day in Paris. It was lucky for me - otherwise I think I would have been in Angelina's every day and missing too much of Paris's other attractions, LOL!
