From what I've read, you need a chip-enabled (EMV) credit card to use the kiosks for the Paris metro. I recently got a chip-and-signature card (true chip-and-PIN cards are almost non-existent in the US). My understanding is that the non-PIN cards are usable without a signature in some situations in Europe up to a maximum charge amount. While I can see why you can't use them to buy railroad tickets from a kiosk, I wondered if perhaps they are usable for the metro. Does anybody have any direct experience?
