Cheese and chocolate in Switzerland

Hello,

I am going to be in the Bernese Oberland this fall (Wengen to be specific) and I really want to visit a cheese and a chocolate factory. Not sure if they're called "factories" but a place where cheese and chocolate are made. I haven't had much luck in researching where these are and how you can visit them. Any ideas or advice? Thanks!

I serioulsy doubt there will be no chocolate "factory" in a place like Wengen, it is small and in the mountains. There was however a small artisan cheese place on hike between Kleine Scheidegg and Wengen( a lovely hike btw) that some people in our group spoke of,, but I do not think it is always open,, sort of hit and miss. I think it may be written up in one of RS books.

There is a chocolate shop in Wengen. We indulged. Not sure if it's a factory. There should be some cheese areas in the B.O. In fact, they just showed one on the Amazing Race in or near Interlaken. Not sure how many may be open to the public.

Can't speak specifically about Wengen, but in the Meirengen area, which is 30 Km to the east, there were a couple cheese making farms in the surrounding mountains. There are a number of farms around that are open to visitors and customers. The local tourism office could give you some guidance.

We went to Gruyeres by train from Bern, toured a factory close enough to walk to, walked from station up the hill to the town, had a nice lunch and walked around some. Wonderful experience.
