Hi, I'm planning to take the overnight ferry from Portsmouth to Caen. I'll be on foot. Can I check a bag, or will I need to keep it with me? Thanks!

When we went the opposite direction (are you renting a room for the night?) when we got on board (we went thru the afternoon) - they had a room where you could leave your luggage - it doesn't seem guarded/monitored or anything, so I wouldn't leave anything extremely valuable...we had our electronics/camera and stuff with us...and maybe have a lock for your bags...

I just have a seat reservation, no cabin. I'd like to look around the boat and sleep a bit, but I'm concerned about theft (I'm traveling solo).
