cheapest train travel roundtrip from Cochem to Bacharach

Hi all. I am taking 30 students and 15 adults to Germany this summer. We will not have the use of our chartered coach on Saturday, June 26th. We will be in Cochem and I want to make arrangements to take them on a short Rhine cruise from St. Goar to Bacharach. What would be the most affordable way? Are Cochem and Bacharach in the same Bundestland for the train special? Any ideas would be appreciated.

Although I consider St Goar to Bacharach (with the Lorelei and Pfalzgrafenstein) to be the best segment on either the Rhein or Mosel, there are also a few cruises on the Mosel between Cochem and Koblenz.

Cochem and Bacharach are in the same Bundesland, Rheinland-Pfalz. So, for 45 people, nine Rheinland-Pfalz tickets at €28 each (€5,60 pP) will handle all of you travel on regional trains for the day. Cochem Bahnhof has a ticket counter, but they'll charge you an extra €2,- each ticket for personal service. Use the ticket automats in the center of the lobby.

For the Rheinland-Pfalz tickets, I would divide the big group into groups of five who would always be together. One person in the group, preferably an adult, needs to sign and carry the ticket.

I think there is a way, using VRM (Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Mosel) Minigruppenkarten and group discounted DB P2P tickets from Bacharach to Oberwesel to save another €24,75 for the group, but I'm not sure it is worth the extra trouble.
