I will be going to Berlin, then a side trip to Leipzig, then back to Berlin for my flight. My flight leaves at 6:30 am, so I need to find a cheap place to stay near the airport. I would appreciate any information or recommendations. Thanks.

There is a Mercure Airport Hotel Berlin Tegel about half a mile from the airport and a Best Western Premier Hotel am Borsigturm around 2+ miles away. You'd probably have to arrange for a cab to the airport the night before. There is also a Hotel Kaiser about 3 miles away that is showing rates at about $60 (not Euro). I googled Hotels at Berlin Tegel Flughafen, Germany and the booking.com site came up. You could try calling the hotels directly if you have Skype or a cell phone. I pulled up the map (it says "show map" at the Hotel Kaiser listing and good map came up that showed the airport and various other accommodations (little orange beds on the map you can click on). The Pension am Kutschi has a single room for about $33.00. It looks extremely spartan but is very close to Tegel.

I have stayed @ the Dorint Hotel, which is right near Tegel .... literally within 3-4 minutes from the airport. The planes travel right overhead as they takeoff, which is really loud when you are outside, but inside, the rooms are perfectly quiet. There was parking available right across the street. There is also a U-Bahn station right around the corner from the hotel if you want to go downtown.

Assuming your flight leaves before 3 June it actually will be Tegel airport. The Dorint (ugly from the outside but indeed quite OK inside) comes to mind. But also pretty much any hotel in the NW of the city, e.g. the Adrema (very short cab ride to the airport and you by-pass the traffic)... and even hotels around the Hauptbahnhof, like the Motel One. From Hbf you can take the TXL bus as well as taxis and again, both by-pass the traffic. Journey time would be 15 minutes.
