Does anyone have any ideas for cheap one night accomadation for 2 adults and 3 children in Rothenberg ob der Tauber, Gunzburg and Fussen?
For Rothenburg, try www.zur-goldenen-rose.de
They have a family room for around €130 - with private bath and breakfast.
Fussen - try House L.A. They have an apartment from €69/night, although I'm unsure of the exact price for 5. www.housela.de Great owner, breakfast included.
Unfortunately, since you're only staying one night, that rules out an apartment which can be a great money-saving option - most require a 3+ night stay.
Try the website for the town, www.[town name].de. It may be in German. Find accommodations under "Unterkünfte", or "Übernachten" or "Gastgeber" or ?. Vacation appartments are "Ferienwohnungen". They usually have sleeping places for more than 2 people, a kitchen, and rent for far less than a hotel room. Single nights are sometimes available, but usually for a little more €. Breakfast is usually not included, but you can sometimes request fresh rolls delivered in the morning.
I went to the cityname.de and booked apartments. They were way cheaper than the two hotel rooms we need to travel comfortably with 2-4 teenagers (we are visiting friends and tend to pick up extras here and there).
Hi Jo,
We were with our kids in Rothenburg ODT a few weeks ago and stayed at Haus Karin. It is a 5 minute walk outside the walled city but there is a walking path right from the house. It was well worth it - I have already forgotten how much we paid but it was more reasonable than the places inside the walls, it included breakfast and it was very clean and comfortalbe. We had 3 rooms - our daughter, 21, had one to herself, our 2 boys had a room and we had a room that also had a couch and table. Karin is sweet and very helpful and her breakfast is wonderful! Our kids liked talking/listing to Karin, her English is very good and she is delightful. We all agreed it was one of our favorite places to stay on our trip.
Our family of five stayed at Pension Poschel. They gave us two rooms, one had a sitting room and three beds. It was comfortable and reasonably priced. I would stay there again. We traveled with 16,12 and 8 year old, two boys and one girl (youngest).
