My daughter and two friends are planning a 3 week trip to Europe after graduating in May. They will travel from London to Spain and Portugal and end up in Paris. Any recommendations for affordable, safe , clean places to stay in or near Paris and in or near London.

Have they looked at hostels? They should be on the Thorntree( Lonely Planet) travel forums board too, many younger budget traveller there.
In Paris, look at Hotel Perfect, or Hotel Diana.
In London, I have not stayed there yet, but Base2stay Kensington seems very clean, and relatively cheap.
They should be researching and booking places now.. prices do not go down, and clean cheap places fill fast.

There are 2 hotels of the Campanile chain in Paris, one at Bastille and one at Monparnasse. Both have special offers at the moment, one offer being a 30% discount if you book 30 days ahead. Google "campanile hotels in Paris" to see what you think. I believe there are triple rooms available, too, so your daughter & her two friends may find that of interest.
