Chateau de Chillon - Swiss Pass Question

I'm trying to figure out our best option for the Swiss Pass. We're going to do a flex pass because we'll be spending a few days in the middle of our Switzerland trip hiking in the Berner Oberland. My question is whether our Flex Pass must be "activated" to be used to get in FREE to the Chateau. The $12 entry fee isn't the main issue, but it might sway how we spend our flex days (for example, taking a boat on Lake Geneva rather than Lake Luzern). Otherwise we will wait to use our first "flex day" getting from Montreux to the BO. Thoughts? Recommendations? Thanks!

Real tech question prob best answered by raileurope website or Swiss rail. gd luck.
i do recall Montreux to BO was a pricey rail ticket however and ours was discounted.

According to the information on the Swiss rail passes page here on this website, you get free museum entry only on your "counted travel days.". So you would have to your boat ride on Lac Leman the same day to get free entry. A boat ride might be a nice way to approach the castle. But in general I think a ride on Lake Luzern would be more scenic.
