I have found a lot of interesting and unique items in charity shops in Europe. I will soon be in Paris area, specifically Cergy, and wonder if anyone could recommend charity shops in the Paris area.
Can't picture any charity markets in France that are like the heart/toe/orphan/save-the-goldfish places all over England.
Paris has two big flea markets with a mixture of junk and interesting stuff. One just outside the peripherique at Porte de St Ouen, the other just inside the peripherique at Porte de Montreuil.
Not sure where Cergy is in Paris. Only place I know like that is a town out to the west on the hairpin bend in L'Oise. If that's the place, then it's RER to somewhere and then metro to the P St Ouen or Pt Montreuil stations.
There are "Emmaus" charity shops in France and the UK, something similar to Salvation Army and Good Will shops. No doubt google will be your friend in this.
Also, going down Bd. Chapelle, close to Pigalle and the Sacre Coeur, there are several blocks of stores selling inexpensive clothing. Wife bought shoes, and handbags for 5-10E. Skirts and blouses were 8-12E, with 10 being the usual price. She brought back 48 pounds of clothes, so something was worth buying.
