Chamonix weather

We will be heading to Chamonix at the end of the week. I was wondering what to expect for weather. We want to spend the majority of our days hiking. We will be staying in Chamonix and was just trying to figure out what to pack for clothing? Any help would be great as we are traveling out of back packs and space is a premium:)

We have been in the area of Chamonix and the southern Swiss alps just over the border for about two weeks now. The weather has generally been quite warm in the valleys during the day...today was about 80-85 or so in Aosta where we spent the day. If you hike, just layer. We went to the top of Mont Blanc last week and although it was a little chilly it wasn't bad at all. Lower elevation hiking such as Lac Blanc or other routes around the valley have been pretty nice. I have been wearing a tank top and then having a long sleeve tshirt + windbreaker/fleece with me and that has been enough.

Thank you so very much! One more question-- we hike the swiss alps last year and went out to dinner every night in the clothing that we hiked in for the day, for the most part. I am assuming that is the same situation in the chamonix area. I just do not want to haul around extra clothes that we will not even need or use for the 10 days we are there. Just trying to simplify our trip, but I do love a good outfit for dinner if needed:) Thanks for all of your help so far -- it is much appreciated!

Totally depends on where you plan to eat! Chamonix certainly has its swankier side and people will dress for dinner when going out to nicer restaurants. There are plenty of casual places though especially if you want to eat alfresco. It is still quite warm around here!
