We have an extra night to spend and will be there at the beginning of April. Love the idea of the lift from France to Italy but enjoy chateaus as well. Any thoughts?

What does the rest of your itinerary look like? Since you only have one night, I would pick the place that is closest to your other destinations.

Landing in Paris and TGV to Strasbourg where we'll rent a car. Alsace region for a couple of nights then on to Provence, Dordogne then back to Paris. So, Chamonix is between Alsace and Provence, the Loire between Dordogne and Paris. Thanks for your insight!

The weather in early April makes it unlikely the lifts will be running from Chamonix into Italy.
